“Christkindlmarkt in April,” an online local market taking place Saturday, April 18th to Sunday, April 26th, is bringing some holiday cheer to our new stay-at-home spring! Shop the best products by DC, MD & VA local artisans – prints, bath & body, pantry, jewelry, housewares, and more – just like you do during the Museum’s annual German-style Christmas market. But this spring season, you can do it from the comfort of your living room in your pjs while supporting our community of small businesses during this time!
Support small local businesses. Brighten someone’s day. Enrich your home office. Show pride for our city. Do a little self-care.
Craftsmanship and entrepreneurship are an important part of the Heurich House Museum’s history. The Heurich mansion was built by local artisans in 1894: August Grass, a German immigrant and local craftsman, carved the ornate fireplace mantels; local artists painted its ceilings; Baltimore sculptor Hans Schüler made some of the fixtures in the Conservatory.
The Heurich House Museum’s Incubator program supports and promotes creative businesses throughout the year. Each December, the Heurich House Museum curates a 3-day holiday market in its garden, Christkindlmarkt. Inspired by German Christmas markets, the event features over 25 local vendors and includes a tour of the decorated historic house. Christkindlmarkt is the museum’s largest annual fundraising event.
